Manchester my Moss Paradise

Moss was one of the first photosynthetic organisms that colonized the continents, grown in various habitats from sea coasts to the alpine zone with some thriving in the dust, petrochemicals and concrete of the cities. Urban mosses thrive in cracks and crevices in footpaths, curbs, walls and drains where moisture collects and spores can lodge.

This installation was made with moss from the streets and walls of the city of manchester to give an aesthetic value to this very versatile and beautiful specie.

The installation was part of the  Manchester Science Festival  for The Golden Ratio Project at Art  nexus  Cafe, Octubre 2011. http://www.manchestersciencefestiva.com
